카치니, 마치니, 바흐/구노, 슈베르트의 가장 아름답고 오래된 4개의 아베마리아를 비롯하여 프랑크의 `생명의 양식`, 베르디의 오페라 레퀴엠 중 1죄인처럼 탄식하시고`, 롯시니의 `스타바트 마테르`중에서 `성모의 가슴을 적시니`, 헨델의 `세르세` 중에서 `나무 그늘 아래서` 포함한 14곡을 비롯하여 그가 가장 아끼는 크리스마스 성가 2곡, 그루버의 `고요한밤`, 민요`어서 가 경배하세`등 가장 순수하고 감동적인 곡들을 담았다. 카루소에서부터 루치아노 파바로티에 이르기까지 금세기 최고라 불리는 모든 가수들은 성가곡에 매혹되어 음반을 녹음하여 듣는이들로 하여금 큰 감동을 불어일으켜 왔으며 이번에 안드레아 보첼리가 부른 성가곡들은 그가 어린시절부터 불러왔던 가장 감동적이며 가장 순수한 곡들은 선택했다는 것과 함께,바로 세기의 문턱에 서서,또한 예수의 탄생을 2000년을 축하하는 전 우주적인 대 축제의 한 가운데 자리한 로마에서 녹음했다는 특별한 의미를 담고 있다. 안드레아 보첼리는 자주 노래하는 것이 운명으로 느껴진다는 말을 해왔다. 자신의 목소리를 이용하여 다른 이들은 감동시키고자 한다는 것이며,이러한 재능과 기회를 부여 받았음을 감사하게 생각한다는 뜻이다. 그는 이 성가곡을 통해 인류가 하느님에게 기도를 올리거나,삶에의 감사를 드리는 가장 확실한 방법 중 하나가 바로 노래를 통해서였음을 상기시키고 있다.
