아카펠라(A capella)는 16세기 이탈리아로 거슬러 올라간다. '교회풍으로' 라는 뜻을 가진 단어로서 르네상스 후기에 활동했던 팔레스트리나를 중심으로 한 로마 악파의 음악기법이라도 한다. 무반주 폴리포니의 대가였던 팔레스트리나는 순수하고 깨끗한 대위법적인 음악으로 사람의 목소리를 회상의 악기로 운용했다. 그때부터 정착된 아카펠라는 '성가풍의 무반주 노래'로 불리며 많은 사람들에게 '신성한' 영감을 불어넣었따. 그러다가 현대에서는 좀더 범위가 확장되어 단순히 반주가 없난 합창곡에서 리듬의 다양함이 더해진 하모니 위주의 무반주 노래에도 아카펠라로 포함되어 이르렀다

이미 데뷔앨범이 아사히 신문의 [석간 클래식 시청실]의 10선에 선정 될 정도로 그룹자체의 참신한 기획과 음악적 퀄리티로 호평을 받은바 있다.
이번 앨범은 클래식 팬뿐만 아니라 아카펠라 팬과 뉴에이지 팬들에게도 어필할 수 있는 바흐, 포레, 라벨등 낯익은 클래식 명곡과 잉글랜드 민요등이 수록되어 있다.
이제까지 만나볼 수 없었던 신선한 클래식 아카펠라 그룹 '앙상블 플라네타'!! 바흐, 슈베르트, 쇼팽. 누구나 귀에 익숙한 클래식 명곡과, 잉글랜드, 웨일즈, 아일랜드 등의 민요 등을 현대적 스타일로 편곡하여 노래하는 '4인 여성 아카펠러 앙상블'은 세계에서도 그 유례를 찾아볼 수 없으며, 그 신선함과 개성을 살린 창법은 클래식 분야를 뛰어넘어 크로스오버 음악팬들에게도 높은 평가를 받고 있다.
앙상블 플라네타는 이제까지 발표한 6장의 앨범들을 통해 보여준 음악적 발전성과 충실도를 높여갔으며, 소인수(少人數) 합창으로 이렇게 까지 인상적인 음악을 만들 수 있는지 절로 감탄이 나올 정도이다. 가창은 오페라로 대표되는 벨칸토 창법이 아닌 바이브레이션을 억제한 가창법으로, 가식이 없고 청초한 음성을 선보이고 있어 듣는 이로 하여금 편안하게 감상할 수 있도록 한다. 바로 "천상의 음악, 천상의 조화"라는 말이 어울리는 앨범들이다. 선곡은 대부분 클래식의 명곡과 민요로 구성되어 있다. 클래식의 명곡 중에는 종교음악, 이탈리아 악곡 등이 있으며, 기악곡에 새롭게 가사를 붙인 것도 있다. 모든 앨범에 가키아게 나호코(Nahoko Kakiage)라는 걸출한 프로듀서가 프로듀싱 및 편곡을 담당하여 통일성을 높이고 있다.
국내에서는 앙상블 플라네타의 두 번째 앨범「Maiden's Lament」이 2002년에 처음으로 소개되어 뜨거운 반응을 불러 모았으며, 그 이듬해 4번째 새앨범「etoile」이, 2004년 3월에 앙상블 플라네타의 한국팬들의 뜨거운 성원에 힙입어 첫 번째 앨범「Ensemble Planeta」와 세 번째 앨범「Aria」의 세계 최초의 합본앨범이 발매되었다. 그 이후에도 <Etoile(4집)>, <Romance(5집)>, <Choral(6집)>가 차례대로 발매되어, 클래식 팬들뿐만 아니라 아카펠라 팬, New Age 팬이나 팝음악 팬들에게도 많은 사랑을 받은 바 있으며, 특히 그들의 음악은 보컬 테스트용 음악으로 오디오 파일들에게도 크게 어필해왔다. 또한, 국내 팬들의 성원으로 2006년 3월 30일 대전 공연, 31일 대구 공연, 4월 2일 서울 공연을 성공리에 개최한 바 있다.
